Ride to Recharge Series: Dunes to Downtown this August!
This year marks our 5th Annual Ride to Recharge. Time has passed so quickly! The Ride has gone through many iterations.
In its inaugural year, 2009, the Ride had three distances – 4, 10 and 20 miles, and a start line at Soldier Field. That May, the local environmental, school and biking communities, riders, donors and sponsors came together to make our first bike-a-thon one that we will never forget.

By its third year, 2011, we’d added both the 62 and 125 mile rides -from DuSable Harbor on the northern end of Grant Park, to the Indiana Dunes, and back. Riders now had the option to spend two days cycling and camping, while raising money to help students green our world.

Now, in 2013, we are continuing to build on what has been successful. We’ve split up the short and long rides. And we’ve added a schools-only walk component.
The 5th Annual Ride to Recharge and Climate Steps took place on Saturday, May 18, with the classic 4, 10, and 20 mile ride distances. Thank you to everyone who participated!
The Ride to Recharge: Dunes to Downtown, with its more challenging 62 and 125 mile distances, is set for the weekend of August 17 & 18. The mid-August date allows Climate Cyclists to work up to the longer distances, with the opportunity to train over the summer.
